City View House 2017

House Notes – City View House

Winner of the 2017 BDAWA award for Best Small Lot Home, this 3 level house makes the most of its narrow and sloping site to achieve an innovative and sustainable solution.

Combining heavy thermal mass, a recycled brick ‘heatsink’ blade wall and lightweight construction, resulted in a unique home that maximises its small lot and panoramic city skyline views. Innovative use of materials includes an aerated concrete floor on timber beams to the upper floor, composite timber Weathertex and zincalume cladding and a triple walled polycarbonate skylight over the floating timber stair. Further sustainable features include a 3000 litre rainwater tank, 6 KW photovoltaic system, cork flooring, LED lights, louvre windows and Big Ass fans throughout.
