Event Navigation

If the climate continues to change at the current rate, how might South Australia look in 10 years’ time and how will we need to adapt? Our three presenters will consider future weather patterns and how we’ll need to change our building and water management practices.

John Nairn, SA Manager of the Bureau of Meteorology, will paint a picture of SA in 2030 resulting from continuing climate change including increased temperature extremes, disrupted rainfall patterns, desertification and intensified storm activity.

John Gelder, Program Director School of Natural and Built Environments University of South Australia will describe the sorts of techniques and building standards required to cope with these changes.

Dr Tim Johnson, Sustainable Infrastructure Engineer at Mitcham Council will explain water sensitive urban design and how water management pracice can adapt to changing rain patterns and temperature extremes.

The presentations will set the scene for an extensive Q&A session.

Next meeting: There will be no meeting in June or July and our next meeting will be on 19 August 2019.
