Event Navigation

This event is hosted in conjunction with the Darling Downs Environment Council (DDEC) and 350.org Australia.

Presentation: On the eve of the Federal election the Renew Toowoomba Branch, is hosting a viewing party for 350.org’s Australia-focused film ‘Accelerate‘ and is inviting guest speaker, Prof. Brendan Mackey to deliver a talk via video link entitled “Climate science update: what’s happening to the weather and what it means for Queensland?”. In this presentation, Prof. Mackey provides an update on climate change science, discusses some of the major current and project impacts of concern, and reviews the level of mitigation ambition now required.

Guest Speaker: Prof Brendan Mackey is director of the Climate Change Response Program at Griffith University, Queensland. He is a Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th Assessment Report currently underway.

This forum will give us a chance to come together with people in our community, share the urgency of climate change, our hope for a more just future, and discuss ways to empower local people to act now for a safe climate. Join us for an evening of climate discussion and help Toowoomba act NOW for a safe climate.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Cost: Entry by donation. Light refreshments available.
