Sustainable House Day (National Event)
September 15 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
For more than 19 years, Sustainable House Day has provided a great opportunity for hundreds of thousands of people to visit some of Australia’s leading green homes – ones that are not only environmentally friendly, but cheaper to run and more comfortable to live in.
Sustainable House Day gives visitors a chance to inspect firsthand houses that have been designed, built or renovated with sustainability in mind as well as the opportunity to talk to owners and receive unbiased advice. Register here to attend Sustainable House Day on Sunday 15th September 2019 and to receive information in advance of the day. Once you have registered there is no need to register in subsequent years. (house addresses will only be displayed in full 2 weeks prior to the open day)
In 2018 over 33,000 people visited 226 homes across Australia.
Gold coin donations and ticket sales from homes open reached $13,742.07 which went to 35 various charities chosen by individual homeowners. Individual charities can be found on each homes profile pages.
Sustainable House Day is an event of Renew (formally ATA). Renew is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to enable, represent and inspire people to live sustainably in their homes and communities. Established in 1980, the organisation provides expert, independent advice on sustainable solutions for the home to households, government and industry. Renew also produces the high-quality magazines, Sanctuary: modern green homes and Renew: technology for a sustainable future to provide ideas and inspiration on how to make your homes and lives more sustainable all year long.
Renew is proud to announce that SHD 2016 won the United Nations Association of Australia’s 2017 Climate Education and Engagement Award.
