Myrtleford Eco House 2016

House Notes – Myrtleford Eco House

Our house was built in 2008. The land was selected because of the northerly aspect and house designed to take full advantage of the winter sun. The house incorporates large double glazed windows to take full advantage of the views and provide light and airy living spaces. We have utilised local stone to achieve 300 mm thick walls in the living area to provide internal thermal mass which provides a beautiful constant winter warmth and summer “coolth”. The external cladding of galvanised iron and eco ply do not retain heat and are an important part of managing comfort levels in the house. The passive solar design includes effective insulation, careful plantings of deciduous trees
