Our Never Ending Project 2017

House Notes – Our Never Ending Project

Our split-level ‘recycled house’ is a Post-WW11 open-plan house, rescued from the wrecker’s ball in Vermont, near Melbourne. Ceiling to floor windows along the living areas (elevated lounge/living and two large bedrooms) made the house ideal for passive solar living once we oriented the house to capitalise on the latent design features.

Since the relocation we have added considerable double glazing, under-floor, wall and ceiling insulation, grey water recycling, solar hot water, 5kw solar generation, and a 1 acre fruit orchard, with fruit in production 12 months of the year.

Our home features  includes;

  • Heat exchange ventilation system
  • Efficient lighting
  • Draught proofing
  • Cross ventilation
  • Solar PV grid connect
  • Solar hot water (flat panel)
  • Greywater system

Gold coin donation will go to Portland RSPCA
