Our strawbale house is built on a 150 ha bush block of jarrah, marri and wandoo bushland. The house is of a passive solar design with care taken to ensure natural ventilation and light. All rainwater is collected for use in the house and garden. A solar pv system is the sole power supply, with water heating via solar and wetback on kitchen wood fire. Greywater is used on the vegetable garden and fruit orchard. We have a dry composting toilet.
