Peg and George’s place 2019

House Notes – Peg and George’s place

Old weather board home (about 1930’s) with extension (for Grandma), limiting back and side yards but have verge garden in the winter, wicking beds at the back in summer, chickens and ducks for company and clean up. Vegetation for cooling, with just fans as an add on in summer. A 3kw photovoltaic system on the roof, solar hot water with electric boost, 10,000L water tanks plumbed into laundry and toilets, grey water to gardens.

Emphasis is always on ‘living lightly’. Reducing all we use and gathering what other people consider ‘waste’ particularly organics. We share the spoils of vege, eggs and knowledge. Gave a dog-poo worm farm for passers by going to the dog park

There will be a number of displays, stalls from the local community, and workshops about how to use our ‘waste’ productively.
