Everyday Energy-Efficient Townhouse Transformation (EEETT) 2024

Everyday Energy-Efficient Townhouse Transformation (EEETT)

We moved into our 2 story townhouse in the summer of 2021 and had some unbearably hot days on the upper floor. So we embarked on making our new home comfortable, energy efficient and all electric. We hope our story provides an example of retro-fitting within the constraints of an inner city townhouse. From DIY draught-proofing, to solar installation, adding insulation, external shading, aircon upgrades, and gas replacement for our hot-water system and cooking. Summer electricity consumption cut 70-80% and now saving approximately half a tonne of CO2e per year with the gas replacement.
