Hemp Home in the Hills

Our hempcrete home is the fulfilment of a long held dream to design and owner-build a home with sustainability and longevity in mind. We used passive solar design principles, invested in a well-sealed building envelope including the hempcrete and made the most of the beautiful aspects of the hills wherever we could. Our previous home was a 120m2 weatherboard with gas heating, hot water and cooking. This house is 185m2 and all-electric, but our electricity usage here is less than the last house! What a difference good orientation, insulation and energy efficiency makes! The house is built to BAL29. Owner-building was a challenging but rewarding journey, supported by so many generous family and friends.

You will need to book a ticket for a specific tour time. This is due to capacity restraints set by the homeowner to ensure the safety of all parties on the day. If you do not arrive at this time you will not be able to tour the home.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE TICKETS AT THE HOME.

The exact house address will be emailed to you in the days before the event. Suburb and postcode information is displayed on your ticket.
Renew is a small not for profit organisation that needs to raise money from ticket sales to cover the costs of hosting this event. In some cases the ticket revenue may also be split with the homeowner.
