Retrofitted Home 2015

Retrofitted Home

A stone home built in 1950 without passive design features, has been retrofit with solar panels, an evacuated tube solar hot water system, plumbed rainwater to the house, and most recently, the Sola-Mate space heater. The Sola-Mate was seen by the homeowners on the New Inventors, many years ago, and has been installed in August. It heats air flowing through a glass panel on the roof, and a fan pushes the warm air through a medical grade filter and into the home, to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels as heaters. It also works in reverse in summer to expel hot air from the rooms.
