This home is still under construction; by Sustainable House Day 2017 it will be nearing completion. The site is a subdivision of an old nursing home, as such it is a bare allotment at the rear. It has many features to ensure its comfort & sustainability, whilst generally using traditional cost-effective construction materials & methods; albeit those materials being chosen for their inherent sustainability with the assistance of Eco Specifer & Green Tag ratings scheme. It blends complete adherence to solar passive solar principles with a beautiful & interesting design, within the constrains of the site.
Importantly it demonstrates how a comfortable & efficient family home can be built for well under the size of most new homes today, saving money & also demonstrating the greatest sustainability feature any home can have; being big enough for its intended use instead of excessively large.
Mark Davis, the Building Designer, will be at the home to take you on a tour & to answer your questions. As newer photos come to hand they will be uploaded to this profile.
