The Hill House 2020

House Notes – The Hill House

This is a 3 bedroom house, on 17.5 acres. The house is made from new and recycled materials. Facing north, it is heated by passive solar during the day which helps heat the house in the evenings, with a little help from a wood stove. It is very well insulated with ceiling, internal and external insulation.

The double glazed windows throughout provide thermal efficiencies and are great for capturing the views and allowing a huge amount of natural light into the house. With the addition of skylights no internal lighting is required between sunrise and sunset.

Cooling is achieved through cross ventilation. There are currently no solar panels, but we plan to install them within the next 12 months, which should attend to all electrical needs of the house and property.

You can also speak with homeowners directly on Saturday 19 September, online, as part of The Nillumbik Trail. Register here to participate.
