The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is an ACT government organisation delivering residential, commercial, and industrial developments across the Territory. We’re passionate about building connected and vibrant neighbourhoods. Our diverse backgrounds, careers and perspectives help us to engage closely with communities and stakeholders to create ‘great places where communities thrive’.

Suburban Land Agency works within the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD) portfolio. We’re responsible for delivering people-focused neighbourhoods on behalf of the ACT Government. Our teams work closely to buy and sell leases of land on behalf of the Territory, ensuring a mixture of public and private housing. We aim to increase the supply of affordable and community housing, meet housing targets, and create environmentally sustainable, buzzing communities.

Our goal is to contribute towards the sustainable development of Canberra while meeting our city’s growing housing needs. We lead by example and showcase innovative sustainability in our demonstration projects.

We embed sustainability into the design and development of our new places. we must strike a balance between environmental, social and cultural, and economic sustainability. This is critical to build thriving places for communities. You’ll see it in our residential communities like Whitlam and Jacka – through to urban renewal projects such as Belconnen and North Wright Sustainable Precinct.
