Sue and Bob’s House 2015

Sue and Bob’s House

Material choices were prioritised and Australian made and local suppliers and manufacturers chosen to reduce transport distances and reduce overall carbon footprint of the home. This led to the use of a Timbercrete block for external and internal walls. A thermal break is installed between external and internal masonry walls, to prevent thermal bridging. High levels of insulation were used throughout the home, further reducing the energy load for heating and cooling throughout the year.

Recycled jarrah direct stick timber floors, skirting and architraves; together with a jarrah staircase are a beautiful complement to the masonry features inside.

Rainwater is harvested in three separate tanks, with total capacity over 7000 litres, and plumbed to the house, with automatic changeover to mains when rainwater supplies are low.

A 2kW Tindo Solar local manufactured photovoltaic system has been installed to offset electricity use, and feed excess electricity generation back to the grid.

Home owners, Sue and Bob, along with their builder, Energy Aspect Living took special care in the design and build of their home, with energy efficient living front of mind throughout the process.
