Delhi Street is a 70 year old weatherboard house in Seymour, an ordinary working class house. When purchased by Sandra and Peter in 2023, it had been vacant for 10 years, with a tiled roof, flaky paint weatherboards and a polished hardwood floor. Lots of cracked fibrous plaster.
We wanted a “pushback” redevelopment- a smaller house, energy efficient and maximising our own labour. Only buy what we have to, like specialist trades. Delhi Street Retrofit will encompass 45 years of Peter’s architectural and building experience. It starts with reorientation, change the front yard to natives, and claim the back yard for veggies. And Sandra’s pottery studio in the refurbished back shed.
