Monika’s House 2019

House Notes – Monika’s House

Passive solar designed to drastically minimize mechanical heating and cooling requirement and at the same time to increase thermal comfort. The thermal performance of this house has been monitored during last year’s winter month in a free running condition (no additional heating or cooling), with external temperature swings between 2 to 16 deg C and internal temperature swings between 15 to 23 deg C.

Monika’s house has been highly insulated and draught proofed to keep the home warm in winter and cool in summer. Openings have been positioned to maximise cross flow ventilation and natural light.

A small pellet heater is used for occasional heating during cold winter afternoons.
