Berkeley Castlemaine 2017

Berkeley Castlemaine

This three bed and two bath home has been renovated with passive solar design principles in mind to maximise the winter sun and cooling breezes. Using recycled yellow box hardwood timber for the flooring and highly insulated ceiling, walls and floors.  Structural insulated panels have been used for the exterior walls.

All glass is double glazed and clerestory windows create a natural cross flow ventilation.

Solar PVs provide the power and solar hot water system heats the water.

We have water tanks to supplement the food gardens and chickens.

Other features includes;

  • Cross ventilation
  • Recycled yellow box hardwood flooring
  • Solar PV grid connect
  • Solar hot water (flat panel)
