Cassia Retreat 2015

House Notes – Cassia Retreat

Cassia Retreat is resort living with a conscience. From the drawing board of award-winning architect Ralph Bailey, and then to the builders at Natural Lifestyle Homes, this home shows what is possible when someone is inspired to build something remarkable.

Cassia Retreat has a long list of features which make it an environmentally responsible home including 55,000 litres of rainwater storage, water-smart taps and fittings, 320 litre evacuated tube solar hot water system and 4.5kw of solar power that drastically lowers costs and feeds green power back to the grid.

You’ll also find low wattage and LED lighting throughout –  the inclusion of a thermal chimney, louvers and ceiling fans mean that the home can be cooled naturally in Queensland’s year-long Summer. Adjustable sun louvers also protect the western aspect from the season’s unforgiving heat

Cassia Retreat was also built with adaptability in mind – vehicle access at street level and showers without entry lips demonstrate universal design features that are often overlooked in standard homes.
