Dennis House in Westleigh

We love the mid century feel of this house with a bush view of Berorwa National Park. When we first moved in 2018, however, we were in for a big shock when we realised the temperature in the area were a few degrees hotter and colder than Sydney, and it translated to being really hot and cold in the house. I remember one winter night we were watching TV with jacket and beanie and could really feel the draught in our face!
So we began our transformation for a better and energy efficient home. The home is already all electric. We sealed all gaps, changed window treatments to thick curtains, insulated the ceilings, walls and underfloor. We installed split system ACs, double glazing windows, awning, solar panel, heat pump hot water system, water efficient taps. We also changed all plants to native plants which have less water needs and planted more for cooling and shade effects in summer. We will continue working on making this a better and energy efficient house!
