Built on the Toowoomba escarpment, our 100% off-grid home focuses on being sustainable, resilient and uses automation and smart home technologies to optimise the resources we have available. Our design considers the orientation and natural landscape to best make use of the site, taking advantage of the mountain behind us to block the harsh western sun in summer afternoons, whilst still receiving winter sunshine late into the evening. This incredibly gives us a uniform sunset time all year round.

Floor to ceiling windows capture magnificent winter morning sunshine, and polished concrete floors throughout offering a large temperature-stabilising thermal mass. Wide opening doors and cross ventilation design to make the most of summer breeze whilst the single story floorplan provides the a large roof area for rainwater capture. We have also incorporated a number of controls to manage bushfire risk and high strength to protect against gale forced winds.

Our house offers a space for any time of the year, with wide verandahs to enjoy perfect spring and autumn afternoons, and a cozy fire at the foot of the bed for snuggling on a cold winter morning.
