Hillary was slated for a knock down but was retained because it was there!
The original double home has been insulated and made air tight while a previous addition was removed, reconfigured and replaced with a living area and kitchen that connects beautifully to the large rear yard. The generous ceiling height connects old with new while the curves of the original home are reflected in timber work in the addition, harmonising old and new.
Expansive glazing in the new addition is well shaded both by the building as well as external blinds. The window placements emphasise the connection to nature bringing a sense of calm to the internal spaces.
The home is certified to the EnerPHit standard (passivhaus retrofit) although the air tightness of 0.47ACH50 is better than required for a new build; testament to the builders dedication to detail.
The home has a large PV array and 27kWh of battery storage. Only re-occupied since December 2024 energy data is not yet available but it will be very energy positive.
