The art studio was inspired by a desire to live simply with a small footprint and at the same time utilise local materals such as clay, sand and repurposed timber.
The sustainable features of the art studio include 1) natural materals such as double super-adobe walls (earth tubes with barbed wire on top) to withstand earthquakes and deter ember attack in case of bushfires 2) external walls faced with rock and vertical gardens 3) earth floors 4) green roof with a variety of hardy plants.
