Kenarra 2024

Kenarra

Architect designed, this new-build house was to be as environmentally virtuous as possible in a suburban setting. It is well-oriented, partly built into the ground-plus-gabions, very small for a couple/young family and has a significant amount of recycled material in its construction.

Solar control plus heavy insulation mean that it needs neither heating nor cooling in Melbourne’s climate. Plywood and plaster lining, together with full glazing of the “greenhouse” corridor make the house light and airy.
