Maries Garden 2017

House Notes – Maries Garden

Marie combines her love of gardening with supporting charity work. Marie has opened her garden through the Open Garden Scheme to raise money for charity, and has also opened her garden to local old age homes.

Joondalup Council wanted Marie to remove her garden between the concrete footpath and gutter. It’s a community garden – herbs, vegies and chilli peppers grown for the benefit of neighbours and passers-by. Few things give her greater pleasure than seeing people picking chilli, basil, rosemary or kale from this garden.

We are pleased to announce that Marie won and the council finally saw sense. See how you too can make a difference in your community by starting a verge garden.
