Designed around solar passive, sustainable, energy efficient and forever functional principles, Green Draft’s newest home has created healthy and comfortable year round living conditions without the need for any mechanical heating or cooling.
Constructed of Australian made and pre-cut structural insulated panels – walls and roof – the home has achieved above average insulation values with minimal waste on site and large eaves to protect from the summer sun. Built on bearers and joists the natural lie of the land has been untouched allowing the home to breathe and giving access to trades and services. This area also houses a 10,000L water tank to allow access to clean rainwater and save money on water costs.
Double glazed windows and doors have been used throughout creating a safe, quiet, energy efficient, comfortable and healthy home while allowing effective cross ventilation and an abundance of natural light. With wider doors and hallways to accommodate life at every stage, and perfectly level from the driveway through the home, it is safe and accessible for every age and ability.
Below zero carbon and platinum certified building materials have been used, along with recycled glass, LED lighting and environmentally friendly materials. Planting has included non-invasive bamboo which helps reduce carbon dioxide gases and generates up to 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. It also lowers light intensity and protects against ultra violet rays.
