House Notes – Natural Swimming Pond

Natural swimming pond based on European principles. A DIY pond created by the retired owner set in a small private granny flat garden of low maintenance plants. Motivated by 20 years as a farmer in a drought stricken area, looking for submersion in chemical free during the increasingly hot summers. Recycled concrete retaining wall, holds a pond with plants in a gravel bed filter with recirculating water via a small low energy pool pump run during the hours my solar system is active. The swim zone is created with an old circular spa shell. It is a favourite place for the local birds, many bees and insects.
