Osprey Waters Sustainable Demonstration Home 2016

Osprey Waters Sustainable Demonstration Home

This sustainable demonstration home and sales office was designed and constructed as part of the Mirvac Osprey Waters master planned community, a 36 hectare 407 lot development situated adjacent to the Mandurah Estuary.

Constructed from Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), the home was built in just under 16 weeks (compared to around 18 months for a comparable two-storey dwelling). A highly insulated, airtight building structure, the design also features high performance double-glazed windows, light-coloured Colorbond roofing to reduce summer solar absorption, and Weathertex cladding, with a better than carbon neutral footprint.

Other sustainable design features include:

  • Optimised for solar passive orientation and natural ventilation
  • Polished Concrete Ground Floor for thermal mass
