Paperbark Cottage 2019

Paperbark Cottage

My passion is to live as I believe (walk my talk), by creating a home, celebrating memories of a simple wooden building, slightly elevated, so as to allow natural airflow under the floorboards.

My garden celebrates a childhood memory of an oasis in the dusty Gemfields, and utilizes items collected from the Endeavour shop at the Tip (saving landfill),….formed in such a way that I won the Award from our Livingstone Shire Council last year for “The Best Use Of Recycable and Resuable Goods”.

Recycled and reused items I have in my house and garden include:

  • Cabinets
  • Doors
  • Timber
  • Rocks and stones
  • Plant pots
  • Fences & gates

I built my own window awnings to match the style of the cottage and continued to upgrade with a pergola built from timber from the original house and posts milled from a tree that fell in Cyclone Marcia.

Gas instant hot water system and cook top, so as to be viable during and after cyclone events.

Garden surrounding a new build that emulates the original 100 year old cottage.

All donations on the day will go to Capricorn Coast Landcare Group
