Simple DIY Energy Solutions 2016

Simple DIY Energy Solutions

I have spent the last seven years making my home more energy efficient and have succeeded in more than halving my gas, electricity and water usage. Some rather novel, inexpensive ideas have been used. For instance I fitted my own double glazing, including bubble wrap in the bathroom.

I will also be showing my solar hot air box. It is fitted on my roof and is 15 square metres in area and 20 cms high with a glass top. The sun heats the air in the box which I then pump into the house with a fan. It is computer controlled and delivers 10 Kwh a day when the sun shines. I will also demonstrate a thermal camera that our community group uses to assess the effectiveness of our home’s insulation.

I will also explain how my magic bottle saves energy.
