This three bedroom two bathroom home was designed for a young couple who require a multipurpose dwelling that would meet their changing needs.
The block is wedge shaped, narrowing to the rear with the street frontage facing west, thus proving a real challenge for the design team. The rendered double brick and colorbond roof home is contoured along the east – west axis to maximize northerly aspect and facilitate good passive solar entry and airflow.
Universal access design features are extensive throughout the house. The bathroom is wheelchair accessible, lever door handles semi recessed vanities and a hobless shower – and is positioned towards the front of the house to allow easy access for visitors. Hallways and doorways are all wide enough to allow for wheelchair access.
The garden is made up of both waterwise plants and an organic vegetable garden. Household waste is composted on site to minimise landfill and rainwater harvesting provides water when available to reduce the amount of main water used.
