Stratford Community Garden 2018

Stratford Community Garden

This beautiful community garden brings members of the community together – from unit dwellers to house owners. The garden has been established using permaculture practices and companion planting to grow fresh, local, healthy produce. All the built materials used for creation of the gardens are made from environmentally friendly recycled materials.

Come along to find out about permaculture, wicking beds, composting and more. Or learn how to set up your own community garden.

The garden provides seeds to the Boongary Vet, Bird Rescue at Redlynch Valley and for the Stratford Library Seed Savers Club.

Compost is derived from street-tree leaves, coffee grounds from Stratford Café and the Cairns Airport Café, and horse waste from Cannon Park.

Excess produce is used to supplement the local cafes with items such as chillies and herbs.
