Swan View Community Garden 2015

House Notes – Swan View Community Garden

Visit the Swan View Community Garden to see how easy it is to grow healthy, nutritious veggies in any old corner of your backyard. The garden has used recycled materials to create a variety of garden beds. For example we have converted three old fridges into garden beds and linked them via a reticulation and water recovery system to ensure no moisture or nutrients are lost. Also used as garden beds are three bath tubs. Other materials used are old corrugated iron sheets with timber, star pickets and poly pipe to construct garden beds of varying dimensions.

Using recycled corrugated iron sheets and star pickets we have constructed a composting station. On the day we are holding a mini fete showcasing the benefits of sustainable living. Available for sale are jams, preserves, crafts, devonshire tea and a sausage sizzle.
