The Panel House 2023

House Notes – The Panel House

The Panel House is one of the latest Passive House (PH) projects by G-LUX Builders who specialise in custom high-performance and Passive Houses. The entire team at G-LUX has a huge passion for high-quality craftsmanship and loves exploring new build technologies and materials. The goal is to find the most economical and efficient solutions for each project. Collaborating successfully with other experts in the industry and working in a design & construct method has enabled G-LUX to gain essential experience and knowledge over the years.

Owner and Managing Director, Jesse Glascott wanted to use all the experience the business had gained over the years while also applying new building methods and materials. After a year of developing the right design idea for the house and researching different materials and ways to build it, the idea for the Panel House was born.

Some of the key elements of this two-story, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom certified Passive House Plus build includes: prefabricated structural insulated panels (SIPs), mass timber, wood fibre insulation, green roof, 30000L rainwater supply, heat pump hot water system, concrete that reduces the environmental impact, solar PV system, Australian made PH timber windows and sustainably sourced fixtures & fittings.

The indoor environment quality is improved with views of nature, natural daylight through the passive architectural design, circadian lighting, cross ventilation as well as a heat recovery ventilation system ensuring constant flow of fresh air while maintaining stable temperatures. A number of sustainably sourced Australian hardwood claddings have been chosen for the project, in order to meet the BAL29 bushfire requirements.

The Panel House has encouraged G-LUX to follow it’s values as a business, and are looking forward to letting this experience influence future projects.
