This is the third home to be developed at Lochiel Park Green Village by TS4 Living, the team behind Australia’s first designed and built Zero Carbon House (winner of the SA Government Zero Carbon Challenge) and demonstrates what is possible on a small suburban site of only 375 square meters.
Paul and Brett, designers of the Zero Carbon House will be at Lochiel Park all day to answer any questions you might have about TS4 Living homes along with builder Neville Webber of Weber Building Services.
The home sets a high standard for sustainable design and construction achieving a home energy rating of 7.6 Stars without compromising contemporary style. Winter sun falling on the thermal mass concrete floor provides passive heating and two storey voids between the floors combined with electrically operable high level windows increase the effectiveness of natural ventilation. The 242 square meter two storey house (including garage) celebrates open plan living with three bedrooms, the main bedroom with en-suite and a balcony with views over Lochiel Park. Outside there are two separate alfresco dining areas, one with retractable shading to extend the living space outdoors.
Design features include a highly insulated wall construction based upon experience gained from the Zero Carbon House and further developed to be a cost effective and adaptable alternative to typical wall constructions whilst retaining conventional timber framing. Double glazed uPVC windows are used throughout and a small multi-head split system air conditioning unit is used for heating and cooling along with a heat pump hot water system supplied by a 4.2kW solar PV array.
Blower door testing and thermography were carried out prior handing the keys to the owners. The results were excellent with no noticeable breaks in the insulation and an air tightness that is 6 times better than a typical new construction.
TS4 Living work with a wonderful team of like minded trades and professionals to achieve homes like this.
