Villa Marine Holiday Apartments

Villa Marine Holiday Apartments is located at Yorkeys Knob Beach just 10-15 minutes north of Cairns, at the Cairns northern beaches. We are a holiday complex of 9 self-contained villas. We are uniquely situated facing rainforest and wetlands and just 50 metres to Yorkeys Knob beach.

We have a strong belief as shown on our mission statement http://www.villamarine.com.au to reduce our impact on the environment. Being an older building we have retrofitted wherever we can with both solar panels and solar hot water systems. We have utilised heat resistant roof paints and have experimented with 3 different roof insulation’s to produce the best effect for this existing building. We have experimented with water saving via rainwater tank for garden use and reduced flow shower heads.

Working with the adjoining rain forest environment has been very important to us and utilising native plants that complement this environment and attract native fauna such as local butterfly species. We have tried to utilise latest technologies for lighting and air-conditioning such as the use of ‘smart-remotes’ to reduce power usage.

We are not experts but just regular people who are just giving it a go to the best of our abilities and learning as we go.
