Wilmot house in Seymour

As an electrical engineer involved with energy conservation for most of my career, I was keen to use solar panels in the early 1990s when we built a house off the grid. In 2018 we demolished a house in Seymour and had the gas connection abolished. The new house was built off-site and delivered on two trucks. Windows face North and East; North windows have awnings to keep out the sun in summer and warm the house in winter.
It included insulation in ceiling, under floor and in the walls.
It is double glazed, has LED lighting, a heat pump for hot water, reverse cycle air conditioning and an induction stove. e
The house has a rating of 7.2.
We added 5.7kW of solar panels and a 7kWh battery.
In 2023 our total electricity bill was $753, made up of $467 for energy, $517 fixed charge and $229 SFIT.
