About Sustainable House Day
Welcome to Sustainable House Day. Sustainable House Day (“SHD”, “we”, “us” and/or “our”) is a not for profit, national event across Australia featuring green homes opening to the general public. The event has been in operation since 2001 and from 2016 will be delivered by Renew. SHD collects and holds personal information for the purposes of running and promoting Sustainable House Day, associated ancillary events, local groups and participating local properties. Sustainable House Day is actively promoted via the domain: (Website) as well as social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter (Social Media).

This Privacy Policy sets forth our policy with respect to information, including personally identifiable information (“Personal Data”), that is collected from users of and/or visitors to the SHD Website (“you” or “your”), including (i) registered users who are homeowners opening their homes (“homeowners”) (ii) other organisers such as local groups or councils coordinating a local SHD event (“other organiser) or (iii) individuals who want to register to attend SHD or receive SHD marketing communications (“visitors”).

Homeowners: We collect Personal Data from you when you voluntarily provide such information to the Website, such as when you register as a homeowner or create a home profile. Other-Organisers: We collect Personal Data from you when you voluntarily provide such information to the Website as a local group or organisation that is coordinating SHD activities or ancillary events. The Personal Data we may collect includes without limitation group name, address, email address, postcode and other personally identifiable information.

Visitors: We collect Personal Data from you when you voluntarily provide such information to the Website as an individual looking to attend SHD or receive SHD marketing communications. Event Day Data: Homeowners and local groups may collect the Personal Data of Visitors entering an SHD participating property or ancillary event. This data will be collected for the purposes of security, with attendees having the ability to OPT-IN to SHD communications. All homeowners and local groups will be responsible for the collection and protection of this information.

Our Use of Information That We Collect:
Access and Use:
Visitors: If you provide Personal Data in order to obtain attend SHD or receive SHD communication updates, we will use your Personal Data to send you SHD event updates and addresses.

Homeowners and Other Organisers: If you provide your Personal Data as a homeowner or local group the information nominated by you to share publicly will be made available on the Website with the express purpose to encourage attendance to your property or SHD event. The Personal Data nominated as personal such as name, email address, telephone number and login information will remain Private.

• Internal Business Purposes: We may use your Personal Data for internal business purposes including without limitation to help us improve the content and functionality of the Services, to better understand our users, to improve the Services, to protect against, identify or address wrongdoing, to enforce our Terms of Service, to manage your account and provide you with customer service, and to generally manage the Services and our business.

Update for GDPR

Renew extends General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules to all EU citizens. Unsubscribing from communications can be managed within any email received from Renew, and you can contact us for requests to erase data.

Website advertising

Renew allows paid advertising to appear on our websites from third parties who have entered into a commercial agreement with us. All such advertising is vetted by Renew before being allowed to appear on its websites. Specifically, Renew does not allow advertising from Google’s AdSense (or any other third-party) advertising network to be displayed.

Renew uses Google’s Ad Manager service to store and serve only advertising we have previously vetted and allowed. In serving these advertisements to you on behalf of Renew, Google may store and use cookies on the device you are using to access the website, and may use this and other information from the device such as: the browser being used, the unique Internet Protocol (IP) address used by the device to connect to the internet, and the operating system of the device.

You may configure your browser to refuse the use of cookies and content served by Google’s Ad Manager service; however please note that by doing so the full functionality of this website may not be available.
