About this home

Our home was designed for the way we want to live - as home-based as possible. The design supports our garden with spaces to process and preserve food (hello “big” kitchen and pantry) and then small bedrooms, indoor-outdoor living (enclosed east-facing verandah), and practical spaces (airlock mud room; shipping container shed; greenhouse).

To us, our home is also beautiful - packed with natural fibres and materials including clay paints, oiled or raw wood, and a maximalist explosion of plants and found objects.

The house and garden were designed with permaculture front of mind - to cleverly integrate aspects; to allow for efficient flow as we do the things we love.

We designed our home not for resale value, but as a beautiful space for us to live our most fulfilled lives.

The house is a 100 square metre, 2-bedroom strawbale cottage. It features exposed concrete floors, some internal cob walls, massive reclaimed Moonta Bay Jetty beams, and double-glazed aluminium windows. We also have a shipping container shed with a green (living) roof, and a recycled materials greenhouse with exposed cob walls.
