This new build Passivhaus home (certification in progress) was completed at the end of 2025. It replaces a defunct single storey home and responds to a growing family's needs now and into the future.
The design has been optimised to ensure that the ‘north to street’ orientation does not negatively impact on thermal comfort as can often be the case.
The light coloured roof and weatherboards both assist in reducing unwanted summer heat gain while also sitting nicely in its Northern Beaches context.
By May 17, the landscape will be more established as the home begins its period of settling in. The raised floor levels respond to a genuine local flooding issue, bringing both protection but also a design challenge in providing good connection across the block.
The tour will focus on the strategies used to create a thermally comfortable home, including passive design, construction detailing, ventilation strategies and execution of these on site. The architect will be present so bring any questions along.
