The Rye Cave House is a Passive House in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula that uses sustainable materials creating an abode that sits within its local context of geology, fauna and historical architecture.
The home includes triple glazed windows and skylights and internal edible garden or Jackfruit, Guava, Mango, Avocado and Papaya trees, ginger, turmeric, galangal, chilli, cumquat and native citrus grow inside, within the thermal envelope of the Passive House.
Granite Boulders form bathrooms amongst a floor of recycled concrete. Salvaged Oregon ceiling lining, kitchen and dining tables contract concrete shot-rete walls.
An entrance roof garden is home to hyper indigenous plants, and a second roof garden grows veggies.
